Icons

eXPerience allows you to create an unlimited number of icons for the desktop.

Create

To create icons, tap and hold on the desktop.  Select Icons > Create.

The Icon Editor displays in create mode.

There are 5 different ways to set icons: Applications, Control Panel, File, Folder, or Feature Item..

1. Applications - displays the applications that appear on the desktop.

2. Control Panel - displays the Pocket PC settings options that appear on the Control Panel menu.

3. File - allows you to browse the directories for files (any file, not just ones with .lnk or .exe extensions).

4. Folder - allows you to set a link to a file folder.

5. Feature Item - allows you to display an icon that provides some specific functionality like displaying your device's remaining power.

Applications

To set an icon for an Application, set the drop down list to "Application" and click the "Show List" button.  Next, select the application for the icon.

Control Panel

To set a Control Panel icon, set the drop down list to "Control Panel Item" and click the "Show List" button.  Next, select the control panel entry for the icon.

File or Folder

To set an icon for a file or folder, set the drop down to "File" or "Folder" and click the "Show List" button.  The file dialog displays.  Use the file dialog to navigate to the wanted file or folder.

Change the file type to see files with .exe or *.* extensions.

Feature Item

Feature items are special icons that provide some specific functionality that goes beyond providing a shortcut to some other file.  eXPerience has many Feature items with more to be added in the future.

To set a Feature item, set the drop down list to "Feature Item" and click the "Show List" button.  Next, select a feature from the list.

The icon information displays in the editor.

Select "Clear" to remove the name.  "Reset" brings back the original name.  The name can also be edited for customization.

Select small or large icon.

Change the icon's location.

'Save & Continue' saves this icon and clears all values in the editor.

'Save & Close' saves this icon and closes the editor.

'Cancel' closes without saving the icon.

Edit

To edit icons, tap and hold on the desktop.  Select Icons > Edit, then choose one from the list.

The Icon Editor displays in edit mode.

Select "Clear" to remove the name.  "Reset" brings back the original name.  The name can also be edited for customization.

Select small or large icon.

Change the icon's location.

'Save & <' saves this icon and navigates to the previous icon.

'Save & >' saves this icon navigates to the next icon.

'Save & Close' saves this icon and closes the editor.

'Cancel' closes without saving the icon.

Delete

To delete icons, tap and hold on the desktop.  Select Icons > Delete, then choose one from the list or choose 'All'..

Auto Arrange

Selecting this item will rearrange the icons in the order they were created.  With the first one displaying in the top left position and the second one below it in the same column.  The positions are based on the "Grid Cell" settings.  If the all the icons cannot fit on the screen, the remaining ones are all placed in the last position.

Align to Grid

When this option is selected icons will snap to the edge of the grid cell when moved.  Newly created icons will not be automatically aligned.

Global Settings

Tap and hold on the desktop.  Select Icons > Global Settings

Size

Individual - Uses the size specified for each icon.

All Small - Ignores individual setting and displays all icons in small size.

All Large - Ignores individual setting and displays all icons in large size.

Grid Cells

Allows you to specify the width and height of the virtual grid cells.  These values control the spacing among icons.  These values are used when "Auto Arrange" or "Align to Grid" is selected.

Visibility

Show - Displays all icons.

Hide - Hides all icons.

Text

Individual - Uses the name specified for each icon.

Show All - Ignores individual setting and displays the name of each icon.  If the name was modified, the modified name is displayed.  If the name was blanked out, the original name is displayed.

Hide All - Ignores individual setting and hides the name of all icons.

Color - Changes the color of the text.

Font - Changes the text font style.
